01/11/2008: MTV CASTING CALL: MTV is looking for a Curves member between the ages of 18-26 to feature on their show, True Life. If you've never watched it, see the description below:

Since its initial episode in 1998, MTV's award-winning True Life documentary series has told remarkable real-life stories of young people and the unusual subcultures they inhabit. Whether documenting the lives of individuals dealing with obesity, addiction, or teens in high school--the True Life series tells its stories solely from the varied voices and points-of-view of its characters--putting the series in the unique position of reflecting the state of youth culture at any given moment.

The show's topic is "Rollercoaster Yo-Yo Dieters" and will feature three young people who have either a) just reached or are about to reach their goal weight after years of yo-yo dieting and now have to figure out how to keep the weight off - or - b) chronic yo-yo dieters who are still struggling to lose weight.

ANYONE who meets the above criteria, even if they are not a member of West Loop Curves yet, is eligible to receive a FREE 1 year membership to West Loop Curves if MTV chooses them for the show! Of course, if a current West Loop Curves member is selected, she will also receive a free 1 year membership to West Loop Curves!!!

Deadline for submissions is Friday, January 18. If you are or know a Curves member who meets the criteria for this great opportunity, send a brief description of her story, along with her contact information, as soon as possible to tandrews@curves.com. Members can be from anwhere in the U.S.

12/10/2007: The holiday season is upon us! December Holiday Hours: We will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 23rd, Monday Dec. 24th and Tuesday Dec. 25th. On Wednesday Dec. 26th we will have shortened hours: 8am-1pm and 4:15pm-7pm. We will be closed on Monday Dec. 31st and Tue. Jan. 1st! Have a wonderful holiday!

11/15/2007: Thanksgiving Holiday Hours: We will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22nd, and Friday, Nov. 23nd, We will be open regular weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday! Enjoy your holiday!

10/03/2007: OCTOBER HOURS: We will be closed on Sunday, Oct. 7th because the city is shutting down all of our surrounding streets to make way for the Chicago Marathon.

We will also be closed on Monday, Oct. 8th because the city is shutting off our water to fix a water main. Normal hours resume on Tuesday!

09/10/2007: New Art Gallery is posted! We have 3 new artists featured on our walls at the club. During your workout, check out the stained glass, oil paintings, and tapestry weavings! You can purchase any of their works at the club, by writing us, or by calling us at (312) 491-0011.

08/29/2007: Labor Day Holiday Hours: We will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 1st, Sunday, Sept. 2nd, and Monday, Sept. 3rd. Enjoy your holiday!

08/10/2007: Red Cross Cell Phone Recycling is going well! We need to gather 30 phones for charity and we are almost there! So please bring in your old cell phones and accessories for donation to a great cause. www.phones4charity.org

06/27/2007: Holiday Hours + New Summer Hours: We will be closed on Tuesday, July 3rd and Wednesday, July 4th. Starting on July 5th, we are also making a change to our summer hours:

Mon - Thurs: 6am - 1pm and 4:15pm - 8pm
Fri: 6am - 1pm and 4:15pm - 7pm
Sat: 8am - 1pm
Sun: 10am - 2pm

04/04/2007: 2nd Ward Alderman Madeline Haithcock will be visiting Curves THIS SATURDAY, April 7th, at noon. She is doing a community whistle stop campaign and will be available to discuss your community issues and concerns!

04/04/2007: Holiday Weekend Hours: We will be open on Friday, April 6th from 8am-1pm and 4pm-6pm. We will be closed Easter Sunday. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!

03/07/2007: One month just isn't enough! Both March AND April are West Loop Curves Member Appreciation Months! Workout - get free stuff - it’s as simple as that! This stuff will go quickly so don't skip any workouts! Check the shelves near the front door on your way out; we will be giving away granola bars, lotion, snacks, coupons and much more!

01/25/2007: We're proud to announce that our friend Marcus Sakey, a local Chicago crime novelist, has signed a book publishing deal! His new novel "The Blade Itself" hits bookstore shelves today at Borders! We are so excited for Marcus! He has gotten incredible reviews from all of the important sources: The New York Times, Publisher's Weekly, etc. He is even featured in the exact same issue of Time Out Chicago as our West Loop Curves! So please pick up a copy of his novel at stores or online through Marcus' website!

We've just completed Phase 2 of our remodeling -- the new wood floors are in and they look beautiful! As for the website, we will be adding more and more new features -- please send us feedback too!
